I am a Usui Reiki Master and a Registered Nurse. Healing has always been of great interest to me, leading me to become a nurse in 1981.
In nursing school, we were taught about our holistic nature, that we aren’t just flesh and blood, but emotions, minds and spirits, and how all these parts of us interconnect to affect our health and well being. My spiritual walk and my RN practice have shown me that this is true. Furthermore, I have observed that overall health is what many of us strive for. Eating well, exercise, meditation and community all contribute to our well-being, yet many still suffer health challenges. I wondered how to access that spiritual part of us to bring about true wellness.
I was so excited to learn about Reiki in 2007! At that time, I was taught Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 via correspondence classes and distant attunements, which were very powerful and life changing. Because Reiki was solely taught orally in the beginning, lineage became important in picking a teacher and establishing the purity of the original teachings of Mikao Usui, Reiki’s founder. In my Reiki lineage I am the sixth student to whom this knowledge has been passed down, from Mikao Usui. I again took these classes and attunements through another teacher from the International Center for Reiki Training, in person, in 2013. I also became a Usui Reiki Master in 2013 and a Karuna Reiki Master in 2014.
I have found that Reiki has been a great help in gently bringing about wholeness in myself and my loved ones. I have used Reiki on myself every day since my first attunement in 2007 and I can name many ways it has touched my life through the years. Besides enhancing my spiritual walk, Reiki has helped me in my emotional life and my physical body, bringing me to deeper levels of health. It is my hope that I can now share this gift with you.
